Mounted Combat
In the Mordheim rulebook the mounted combat rules are very barebones. A rider and mount are treated as a single model, using the rider’s Toughness, Wounds, and Leadership for all tests. If the rider is taken out of action, the entire model is removed, and there are no special mechanics for handling the mount separately.
Blazing Saddles, on the other hand, expands mounted combat into a much deeper system. It requires separate models for mounted and dismounted states, introduces rules for mount control and handling, and adds the possibility of mounts acting unpredictably through mechanics like the “Whoa, Boy!” table. It also gives mounts their own role in combat, making them more than just an extension of the rider.
